2017 High Availability/Disaster Recovery 101 - Glenn Berry

How do you design a SQL Server 2017 infrastructure in order to meet specific Recovery Time Objective (RTO) and Recovery Point Objective (RPO) service levels? There are many aspects to consider, from technology choices and licensing, to policies and procedures. This session outlines and compares the various HA/DR technologies available in SQL Server 2017, showing how you can combine them to design and build a solution to help meet your HA/DR goals. It also covers how to come up with the necessary policies to make the technology actually work in your situation.

Glenn Berry works as a principal consultant at SQLskills in Elizabeth, CO. He is a former Data Platform MVP and has a collection of Microsoft certifications, including MCITP, MCDBA, MCSE, MCSD, MCAD, and MCTS, which proves that he likes to take tests! His expertise includes DMVs, high availability, hardware selection, and storage subsystems. Glenn is also an adjunct faculty member at University College - University of Denver, where he has taught since 2000.
